1.1 I cherish the fond memories of the days spent together
I am not sure, whether you even care to remember
1.2 How long, how long, shall my sufferings continue
Already has, my sore become, a glowing ember
1.3 I wail, I lament, for reasons beyond my control
O God, why made my heart, a smoldering chamber
1.4 Return O 'Janam', I can't even sleep, without you
So many tales are buried in the bed-chamber
('Janam' means beloved, the poet addresses her beloved so)
1.5 Enchanted is 'Mitwa' by the moments shared
When will seasons turn, anxious wait is for September
('Mitwa' is the Pen-name of the Poet; otherwise it means á friend')
